Running and Sporting with Nike+ and iTunes

May 1st, 2008 admin Posted in Electronics, Running, iTunes No Comments »

Comparing the value of music for running and other sports is not the point of this review. It is a given that many feel there is a great deal of value in and enjoyment of music and sports. Now comes the added benefit of getting training and inspiration while the music is on your ipod or MP3 player.

In January 2008, Nike, Serena Williams and iTunes launched another new running iTunes training and coaching compilation. This is but another in a series of music and coaching works that not only guides the runner through different stages of a run but offers personal music collections of the “coach.” So far Lance Armstrong, Serena Williams and Jack Engram have put together compilations and training comments to run by.

Nike offers other compilations in other sports. We urge you to click on the links and venture into Nike’s fantastic collection of tools and information pointing to their collection of tunes, mixes and training assists. To get the music click over to iTunes and look for iTunes sports mixes.

Nike. iPods. Running

March 31st, 2008 admin Posted in Running, Sports, iTunes No Comments »

Nike+ is a newer runner designed to work with an iPod to improve training by measuring pace, distance and overall time. It can be integrated with your running tunes on your Nano.

A Suggestion: do not hold the Nano while listening to music and running as your shoulder(s) will get stiff causing unnecessary muscle fatigue. After your run you can upload the data by plugging the data sensor in your shoe into the Nano and then uploading the info your computer - Mac or PC compatible.

There are a variety of Nike runner models. Typically the runner is purchased and the iPod specially designed to fit into the shoe is sold separately. BUT you need the Nike+ shoe.

Look for the + mark near the Nike name or runner name. Al in all, a useful replacement for the pedometers or clunky watches and satellite-type pace trackers.

May take some fine tuning, but well worth the setup time!
